4466 Prairie Lane Short Sale

Should I blog about Prairie Lane? Where would I begin?

I could start with making an offer above the asking price.

Then I could continue with finding out there is no recorded ingress/egress to the property. Hmm, how much time and money will it take to bring in a very long driveway from Prairie Road (not from Prairie Lane.)

Then there is the discovering the front property line is not anywhere close to the fence line...the property line is much closer to the front door than the layout of the property would lead you to believe.

Better mention being strung along by the bank for months and months and then being told by their Negotiator that they will not negotiate as they do not intend to take less than what is owed on the mortgage.

Get out dictionary. Look up definition of 'Short Sale'. My dictionary must be out of date.

Hmmm. Can't help but wonder who had the brilliant idea to drop the asking price six weeks before the scheduled court house auction. Hard to believe it is the bank. Plus, why do the photos continue to show a lane that is not part of the property?

I think there might be enough material to do a good sized blog on 4466 Prairie Lane.

Girlfriends with Goals!

Two of my girlfriends, a mother-daughter team, are training for the Nike Marathon-San Francisco as part of a fundraising effort for the Leukemia Society.

Visit their blog to read about these awesome women and their awesome goals. Be generous if any of your friends ask for your support in a simular effort. It will make you feel good, them feel good and do good at the same time.

Drinking and Driving

What is it with older golfers who need a mega-sized cocktail or jumbo toddy before they begin a round of golf? I understand picking up a beer at the turn on a hot day. But really, filling a 64 ounce thermal cup with Bloody Marys, Screwdrivers, Brandy, or Crown Royal before hitting the first tee box might be an indication of a serious drinking problem.

Does it improve your score or just make it so you don't give a damn?

Dodged Another

8.0 Earthquake. Here I am thanking my lucky stars that I left Peru before the big one. One of our adventure group members, Brian, remained in Peru wanting more of an adventure. Ha. He might now have more than he bargained for.

It seemed like every building in Peru was half finished, giving us a really good look at the construction process. Reinforcements, rebar, steel, etc. was minimal to nonexistent. Outside of the major cities, construction is still mud bricks and adobe. I expect the earthquake damage to be significant, which will be devastating to so many who already live on the edge in a country where the infrastructure is sadly lacking.

The South Rises Again

Home again. Monday, after vacationing for 10 days in the middle of Inca-land (Peru), I arrived back to the USA through Atlanta. Immigration and Customs were efficient and professional. What a contrast to my experience earlier this summer at JFK. Struggling through the ghetto in the bowels of JFK with rude officials, conflicting and confusing instructions was difficult with English as my primary language. What must it be like for our foreign "guests"?

I am embarrased by the first impression JFK makes, especially after the first-rate treatment I have encountered in other ports of entry, both in the US and overseas.
